Quantum Field Theory I
A graduate course at Sharif Physics. Sundays and Tuesdays, 10:30 to 12:30, with Dr. A. Ardehali.
What the course covers
Quantum Field Theory I is a graduate course in the Physics Department at Sharif University of Technology. It runs over two halves of about seven weeks, from path integrals and the renormalization group to the Standard Model. The work is assessed continuously — projects, presentations and problem sets — and there is no final exam.
- Part I — path integrals, renormalized perturbation theory, perturbative and Wilsonian RG, following Zamolodchikov's lecture notes.
- Part II — QED, Yang–Mills, the Higgs mechanism and the Standard Model, following Peskin.
A course built around doing
Problem sets
Problem sets submitted in LaTeX, with AI-assisted feedback — and a human confirms every grade.
AI study companion
A course assistant with adjustable hint modes — from a gentle nudge to a full solution, you set the level.
Presentations
Seminar presentations on the Wilson–Kogut paper and on computer-assisted perturbative QFT.
GitHub projects
Midterm and final projects delivered as reproducible repositories, defended orally.
How you're assessed
Assessed out of 21 across participation, presentations, two projects and homework. No final exam.
